The Longest 7 hours Cargo Boat ride to the remotest island in Quezon Province; Jomalig Island

Summer in the Philippines is one of the most awaited seasons in the country, where everyone is so excited to go on a road trip and of course go to a different beach destination of their choice. Quezon Province is on the top of the list for this where we can find the prime beach club of Balesin Island Resort. But aside from this world class resort, there are a lot of beach places one can visit in Quezon, which is equally gorgeous like the one in Balesin Island, but in the most affordable way possible  and the experience of serene beach life is the best. I'm referring to the Island craze of Jomalig Island.

To experience the fun in Jomalig Island, one must endure the 6 to 7 hours Boat ride, from the Ungos port in Real Quezon to the shores of the Salibungot Beach, one-way fare with lunch that will be served while in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the price is 350 PHP. Apart from the boat ride to the island municipality, at least a 5hours drive from Manila the capital to the Port in Real Quezon, but after this car and boat ride the golden sunny beaches of Jomalig Island will sure delight your eyes as the beach is totally empty most the time, you can do tons of photos, unlimited selfies, and beach views.

Perfect months to go here is from January to May because the Pacific Ocean is calm during these months, you won’t experience seasickness because the waves are smaller compared during the rainy months of the year. When it comes to the accommodation, many local offers their home for transient stay with incredibly affordable price ranges from 350php to 500php per night with breakfast, but for the adventurous traveler the beach area is there widely open to pitch a tent for free, but there is a mandatory 100 environmental fee collected by the tourism officer.

Jomalig Island has a lot to offer from the golden sunny beaches of the southern part of the island, Salibungot beach to the sand bars of the northern part the Kanaway sand bar.

One of the most interesting to do in Jomalig Island is renting a motorbike and explore the terrain of the island from north to south, one can see the vast grassland of the island and many mangrove areas along the way, food to eat in the island is not a problem, many sari-sari stores along the way, but some travelers buy supplies from the Real Quezon, which I highly suggest since stores close very early.

During the day one can just stay at beach basking under the sun with the view of the Pacific Ocean, or explore the Pine forest lined up along the coast.

One of the most memorable about this trip is that I was able to see and experienced raw island life which is slow pacing, but people of Jomalig Island were really nice, they are the most entertaining, they will accompany you anywhere especially the kids, there are very happy to see strangers and very enthusiastic to interact anytime. Overall I must say Jomalig Island is a must visit place in our country, the place is truly amazing.
